    Function getMarsPosition

    • Calculates the geocentric position of Mars.

      Parameters

      • jd: number

        Julian Date

      • options: EphemerisOptions = {}

        Optional calculation parameters

      Returns PlanetPosition

      Mars's position including longitude, latitude, distance, and speed

      Mars is the first outer planet (orbit larger than Earth's). Its opposition occurs every ~780 days when Earth passes between Mars and Sun, making Mars brightest and closest to Earth.

      Accuracy: ±1 arcminute for years 1800-2200.
